HISTORY:
After "The Father-Thing" PKD sent off the short story "Immolation." It reached the SMLA on Aug 4, 1953 and was published in Imagination in Dec 1954 under the title "Strange Eden."
"Strange Eden" was never anthologized and only surfaced in volume 3 of THE COLLECTED STORIES in 1987. Comments on it are non-existent.
In the story a two-man survey team discovers an unspoiled world. They land and one man, despite his captains qualms, goes off to explore. He spots a large cat-like creature and decides to do some big-game hunting. But his attention is distracted by a beautiful girl and he thinks she would be a better trophy. Shes willing, but her pet cats are about to increase in number by one
