HISTORY
Between 1945 and 1951 not a lot is known of PKDs literary efforts. One short story, "Stability", has been dated to 1947 when Philip K. Dick was still in high school. This story, though one of the first written, was one of the last published, appearing first and only in THE COLLECTED STORIES OF PHILIP K. DICK in 1987.
"Stability" is an awkward tale that tries to meld three themes into one: the affect of new ideas on a stagnant society, time-travel and fantasy. It succeeds to a degree but not wholly. "Stability" rates ô ô
Other Magazine and Anthology appearances.
NOTES:
DI 46. And TTHC 216. Rickman ascribes the date to Paul Williams.
